Apex is a freight carrier. We move palletized, crated, loose, and oversized cargo on our own trucks with our own drivers. Below is what each service covers and what is included in the rate.
Expedited freight
Expedited work is our largest category. A truck is assigned while you are on the phone and heads straight to the pickup, then drives direct to the consignee with no terminal stop and no consolidation. The freight never changes hands.
Shippers use this when a production line is down, when a supplier missed a delivery window, or when material has to be on a job site before crews arrive in the morning. Because the truck is dedicated to your load, the rate reflects the whole vehicle rather than a per-hundredweight class rating.
Included
- Truck assigned on the call and dispatched straight to the pickup
- Direct drive with a single driver
- Driver name, unit, and ETA confirmed before departure
- Signature and photo proof of delivery
Dedicated routes
A dedicated route is a fixed lane run on a set schedule with the same driver and the same equipment every time. Contracts are written weekly or monthly and priced per route, so your transportation cost stops moving with spot market rates.
This works well for distributors making standing deliveries to the same accounts, for branch-to-branch transfers, and for any shipper who is currently paying expedited rates for something that happens on a predictable calendar. Most dedicated agreements start after a few one-off runs, once both sides know what the lane actually takes.
Included
- Assigned driver who learns your docks, contacts, and receiving hours
- Fixed schedule with a standing pickup window
- Flat monthly or per-route billing with net terms
- Backup coverage when the primary driver is out
LTL and partial loads
Shipments between one and twelve pallets often fall into a gap. They are too large to send by parcel and too small for a full truckload, so traditional LTL carriers route them through a hub where they can sit for days and get handled four or five times.
We keep partial loads on one truck from the shipper's dock to the consignee's. That usually means fewer damage claims and a delivery date you can actually commit to, at a rate that sits between LTL and truckload.
Included
- One to twelve standard pallets depending on the unit assigned
- No cross-docking or rehandling in transit
- Liftgate service where the dock cannot accommodate the truck
- Multi-stop routing on request
Final mile and white glove
Final mile covers delivery to a residence or a commercial address that is not a loading dock. White glove adds the labor at the door: the piece is carried inside, placed in the room the customer wants it, and the packaging is removed and taken away.
This is common for furniture, appliances, fixtures, display units, and equipment sold direct to the end customer. Deliveries are scheduled and the recipient is called ahead.
Included
- Scheduled delivery
- Liftgate and pallet jack on the truck
- Inside placement and debris removal on white glove orders
- Signature plus a photo of the delivered item in place
Accessorial charges
Anything beyond a straightforward dock-to-dock run is billed as an accessorial. These are quoted with the rate rather than added afterward.
| Charge | When it applies |
|---|---|
| Detention | Loading or unloading beyond the free time allowed at each stop |
| Liftgate service | No dock or forklift available at pickup or delivery |
| Inside delivery | Freight carried past the threshold |
| Additional stop | Each pickup or delivery after the first |
| Redelivery | Consignee unavailable or refuses the shipment |
| After-hours | Pickup or delivery outside normal receiving hours |
What we do not haul
We are not a hazmat carrier and we do not accept household goods moves, live animals, or unpackaged loose bulk. If you are unsure whether your freight qualifies, describe it to dispatch before you book.
